Terms & Conditions

These terms govern use of the Book Beacon website and explain how website information, inquiries, proposals, project materials, and third-party services are handled.

Effective July 16, 2026Updated July 16, 2026

These website terms do not replace a signed proposal, statement of work, order form, or service agreement. If there is a conflict, the signed project document controls for that project.

01

Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using the Book Beacon website, submitting an inquiry, or using a website feature that links to these Terms, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the website.

You must be legally able to enter into these terms. If you act for a company, author, rights holder, or other organisation, you represent that you have authority to act for that party.

02

Website information

Website content is provided for general information about publishing and Book Beacon services. It is not legal, financial, tax, investment, or guaranteed commercial advice and should not be treated as a binding offer.

We aim to keep information useful and current, but service descriptions, availability, platform requirements, examples, timelines, and website content may change without notice.

03

Services and project agreements

Submitting an inquiry does not create a client relationship or require either party to proceed. Services begin only when the applicable proposal, scope, payment requirement, and agreement have been accepted.

The project agreement should identify the selected services, deliverables, fees, payment schedule, estimated timeline, review rounds, approval process, ownership terms, and any project-specific conditions.

04

Client information and materials

You are responsible for providing accurate contact, project, billing, and publishing information and for keeping it reasonably current.

You retain responsibility for materials you provide, including manuscripts, artwork, photographs, recordings, trademarks, quotations, data, and instructions. You represent that you own those materials or have the permissions needed for Book Beacon and its service providers to use them for the project.

  • Do not provide unlawful, infringing, defamatory, deceptive, malicious, or unauthorised material.
  • Disclose third-party content, permissions, releases, licences, or attribution requirements before work begins.
  • Review proofs, metadata, spelling, factual claims, legal statements, and final files carefully before approval.
  • Keep your own backup copies of all source material and important project files.
05

Intellectual property

Ownership and licensing of project deliverables are governed by the applicable project agreement. Unless that agreement states otherwise, no ownership transfer occurs until all amounts due for the relevant deliverables have been paid.

Book Beacon and its licensors retain rights in the website, brand assets, templates, processes, tools, know-how, pre-existing materials, and general components not created exclusively for a project. No website content may be copied, republished, sold, or exploited without permission except as allowed by law.

06

Fees, payments, and refunds

Prices shown or discussed before a written proposal are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise. The accepted project agreement controls fees, currency, taxes, payment milestones, late payments, pauses, cancellations, and refunds.

Work may be paused when required information, approvals, or payments are overdue. Amounts already earned, committed to third parties, or attributable to completed work may be non-refundable to the extent permitted by the applicable agreement and law.

07

Timelines, reviews, and approvals

Project timelines are estimates unless a signed agreement expressly guarantees a date. Timing may change because of manuscript condition, scope changes, response delays, revision requests, third-party platform review, production constraints, or events outside reasonable control.

You are responsible for timely feedback, consolidated revision instructions, factual review, and final approval. Approval may authorise Book Beacon to proceed to the next stage, submit files, or incur approved third-party costs.

08

Third-party services and platforms

Publishing projects may involve printers, retailers, distributors, payment providers, domain registrars, hosting companies, advertising platforms, audiobook services, or other third parties. Their rules, fees, review processes, account requirements, availability, and decisions are outside Book Beacon’s direct control.

Book Beacon does not guarantee that a third party will accept, list, distribute, rank, advertise, retain, or continue supporting a title. You may be required to accept separate third-party terms or maintain accounts in your own name.

09

Results and marketing

Creative quality, publishing support, distribution preparation, and marketing activity cannot guarantee sales, reviews, rankings, awards, media coverage, retailer placement, audience growth, revenue, or any other commercial result.

Examples, projections, case studies, testimonials, and portfolio items illustrate possible work or experience and are not promises that another project will achieve the same outcome.

10

Confidentiality and privacy

Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Project-specific confidentiality obligations, permitted disclosures, portfolio permissions, and handling of unpublished materials may also be addressed in the applicable project agreement.

Do not send exceptionally sensitive information unless it is necessary and an appropriate method of transfer has been agreed.

11

Acceptable website use

You may use the website only for lawful purposes. You may not interfere with website operation, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, scrape or extract content at scale, impersonate another person, submit deceptive information, or use the website to violate another party’s rights.

We may restrict access, block activity, preserve evidence, or take other reasonable action when misuse or a security risk is suspected.

12

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The website is provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Book Beacon disclaims implied warranties relating to the website, including uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Book Beacon will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses arising from website use, inability to use the website, reliance on general website content, or third-party services. Project-related liability is governed by the applicable signed agreement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

13

Changes, suspension, and termination

We may update the website and these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms become effective when posted with a revised date unless a later date is stated. Continued website use after the effective date indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

We may suspend or discontinue website access or features when reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal compliance, business changes, or misuse. Termination of a paid project is governed by the applicable project agreement.

14

General terms

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without written permission; Book Beacon may transfer them as part of a business reorganisation or transfer.

Applicable law and dispute procedures for a paid project are identified in the relevant agreement. For website-only matters where no project agreement applies, the laws and courts with competent jurisdiction will apply, subject to any mandatory rights available to you.
